Overview of Arianna Fitts
Arianna Fitts is lovingly described by relatives as being a very energetic, curious, and bubbly child, who was very intelligent and occasionally had "a little bit of sass".
Arianna was, by all accounts, a smart, curious, and beautiful little girl who had her whole life ahead of her, and her family misses her dearly. Arianna was 2 years old when she vanished. She was an only child, and her mother, Nicole Fitts worked at Best Buy and would often travel 2 hours across town to get to and from work. While Nicole worked, Arianna would be left in the care of a set of sisters for babysitting.
On April 1st, 2016, Nicole had to leave work to go to Arianna’s babysitter. However, Nicole would withdraw $600 from an ATM. Around 9:45 PM that evening, Nicole contacted her roommate and told her that she was going to Fresno, California to meet a friend named “Sam”. None of Nicole’s family or friends knew who Sam was.
At 1:13 AM on April 2nd, Nicole updated her Facebook status writing “Spending time with my 3 year old need this brake”. Many in Nicole’s life believe that this Facebook status was not actually written by Nicole because Nicole would use proper grammar and spelling.
The most telling sign of all is that Arianna was two years old at the time, not three - Arianna’s birthday was in September.
By April 5th, both Arianna and Nicole would be reported missing by their family after no one was able to make contact with Nicole for four days. Unfortunately, there was not much progress on the case until 2017 when San Francisco Police reported that searched and seized a vehicle they believe belonged to Helena Martin, one of Arianna’s babysitters.
On April 8, 2016, Nicole's remains were found in a shallow grave in McLaren Park in San Francisco, California. The grave had been covered by a piece of plywood, which had a symbol spray painted on top. At this time, investigators announced that they believed that Arianna was at risk, and Arianna remains missing to this day. Five days later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that they would be joining the search for Arianna.
Where the case stands today.
In March of 2020, authorities announced that a $100,000 reward is being offered for information that would lead to "the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person(s) responsible" for Nicole's murder and Arianna's disappearance. Around this time, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released an age-progression image to Arianna's missing poster, showing what she may look like at 6 years old. The following year authorities released another age-progression sketch of what Arianna may look like at 7 years old. Since the release of the reward and age-progression images, there have not been any further developments in either Nicole's murder or Arianna's disappearance, though authorities continue investigating.
At the time of her disappearance in 2016, Arianna Fitts was 2 years old, stood approximately 2' tall, and weighed around 45 lbs. Arianna is an African-American female with brown eyes and black hair. Today, Arianna would be 8 years old.
