Ayellah Marshall was last seen on February 1, 2005, at a medical facility in Hawthorne, California. She left her baby daughter in the care of her parents and has not been heard from since. For a few years following her disappearance, authorities and Ayellah's parents believed she had run away as she had a history of running away and was involved with drugs during her time at Hawthorne High School.

However, in 2010, police discovered Ayellah's high school identification in the Los Angeles home of Lonnie David Franklin Jr., who was known as the "Grim Sleeper." Franklin was a serial killer who was responsible for ten Grim Sleeper murders, one attempted murder, and was believed to have potentially killed up to 25 women. His crimes spanned several decades, with some of the murders occurring during the mid-1980s and then resuming in 2002.

Franklin's home was searched, and authorities found over 1,000 photos and several hundred hours of video, many of which depicted African-American females in various states, including unconscious and nude. The victims were aged between their teens and middle age. Investigators released 180 photos in an attempt to identify the victims, and some of the women in the pictures came forward to identify themselves to the police. Rolenia Morris, whose identification was also found in Franklin's home, was identified in several sexually explicit photos.

The families of Cathern Davis, Rosalind Giles, Lisa Knox, and Anita Parker, who were involved with drugs and prostitution, believe Franklin may have been involved in their disappearances. All four women frequented the area near Franklin's home, where the presumed victims' bodies were found.

Ayellah has not been officially declared a Grim Sleeper victim, but authorities continue to investigate her case and a possible connection to Franklin. Her disappearance remains unsolved.
