Bernardo and his brother were crossing the border illegally with a group of undocumented workers. When they were crossing the Tijuana River he and his brother were swept away by the current. His brother made it to shore, but Bernardo was not seen again. It is unknown if he made it out of the river alive, but his family claim they have had no contact with him.
