It was the suicide of her ex-husband, James MacTavish, that led to the discovery of Beverly Brehm's disappearance. ​ When a next of kin were being sought after MacTavish's death in 2013, investigators learned that his ex-wife, Beverly Brehm, was last known to have remained residing with MacTavish after their divorce. However, no one had seen her since 2008. She simply vanished without a trace. And since Beverly was not close with her own family, no one even knew she was missing for five years

Since discovering Beverly was missing, detectives have made little headway in finding her. And what makes this case even more confounding is the discovery that her brother, Gordon Brehm, was also supposed to be living with Beverly and MacTavish, and he, too, was missing.
