Overview of Brandon Adams
Brandon Shane Adams was a typical 15 year old in the 8th grade who had just moved to New Orleans a year ago. He had a girlfriend and loved sports. As an honors student, Brandon was very smart and had hopes and dreams of attending college one day. But most importantly, he loved his family.
It was a Friday evening on 04/27/2012 when Brandon told his mother he was going to Sampson park to play basketball and meet up with Christine, his girlfriend. While at the park, Brandon got into an argument with 2 young men. They were bullying him and telling him he wasn't from there and wasn't welcome there. But Christine said that Brandon just ignored them. After a couple of hours had passed, Eric, Brandon's older brother, came by to get him. Shortly after that, they all parted ways. Christine said she watched as the two brothers walked away before heading to her friend or cousin's house. Sometime during their walk home, the boys stopped at a nearby convenience store to get some candy.
As they continued on their walk home, they made it near the intersections of Montegut and Pleasure Streets when two black males with masks jumped out and started shooting at them. They ran down Montegut street to escape, but the shooters continued firing at them. Brandon was hit with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his head, while Eric was shot in the back and leg but survived.
