Overview of Eileen Hynson
Like so many cold cases across the United States, there is very little information available about Eileen Hynson's disappearance in 1976.
Eileen Francis Hynson was last seen leaving her home, where she lived with her father and brother, on June 1, 1976. Eileen had left the home to attend a bridal party dress fitting in Benicia, California, approximately 30 miles away from her home in Napa, CA.
Some sources report that her father told investigators that Eileen had plans to visit a resort in Lake Berryessa, CA, before traveling to Benicia for the dress fitting. One thing that is known for sure, is that Eileen left her suitcase at home. Although it is unknown whether she was planning on taking it with her, investigators have ruled out the possibility of Eileen running away from home, as it seemed that she was not planning on staying away from home for long.
It is widely believed that Eileen did not have a car, although it is not known for certain. It is also unknown whether she had planned for someone to pick her up and drive her from her home to Lake Berryessa, and then to Benicia. Unfortunately, hitchhiking was another popular form of transportation in the 1970s, again, it is unknown whether Eileen hitchhiked frequently. Additionally, there has been plenty of speculation concerning Eileen's disappearance in the 46 years since she vanished. Specifically, this speculation focuses on whether Eileen may have fallen victim to a serial killer.
Nearly 50 years after her 1976 disappearance, Eileen Hynson remains missing. At the time of her disappearance on June 1, 1976, 19 year old Eileen Francis Hynson was described as a caucasian woman with brown hair and hazel eyes. Eileen weighed approximately 130 lbs and stood at 5'2" tall. Today, Eileen would be 65 years old, and her family, along with police continue searching for answers.
