Overview of Esau Castaneda Vargas
Esau was crossing with friends who came back and told his girlfriend what happened. They said he got tired and overheated and couldn't continue. They said he was left at a place called "cerro de las chichis," which was 5 hours before the intersection of I-8 and a highway that led to Maricopa (possibly near Gila Bend). Someone went back for him, and apparently this person died in the desert from diabetes. Esau may have been using the alias, "Agustin Sanchez Nava." There is a chance that he could have been left behind as late as the 24th of June. (Information retrieved from NamUs.gov)
