Felicia Hughes and her fiancee' Kenan Breaud, Sr. , were living together in their home at 17 Petit Bayou Lane in New Orleans, along with their 5-year-old son. Kenan cut hair for the people in the neighborhood and had hoped to open his own barber shop one day. Felicia had recently lost her job and was in the process of finding a new one. Although Kenan and Felicia had been through some rough times, things were starting to turn around for them, and it seemed as if they were headed down the right path right before they lost their lives.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, 01/17/2011, everyone should have been asleep but was awakened by a knock at the door. Felicia stayed in bed while Kenan got up to see who was knocking. As he opened the door, he saw 5 men standing there. He spoke briefly with them, and whatever was said made him turn around and start running down the hallway. That's when he was shot multiple times in the back. Once their 5-year-old son heard the gunshots, he ran to his parent's room, where he found his mother in bed, hiding under the sheets. She told him to quickly hide on the side of the bed. Only moments later, she, too, was shot multiple times.

Responding to a shooting call, authorities found Kenan, 36, and Felicia, 32. Both had been shot multiple times and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their 5-year-old son was found safe.

Investigators are still looking for suspects, and no arrests have been made. This case is still open.
