Harold Augustus III was 31 years old when someone took his life. In his obituary, his family wrote, Harold's love, laughter, and smile; his death has led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. So what happened that evening at the Family Dollar store? Was it a robbery? Did Harold know his killer?

On Wednesday, 05/18/2011, just before 8 pm, Harold was at the Family Dollar store at 4300 Woodland Drive in New Orleans. An unidentified man walked up to Harold in the parking lot and was seen struggling with him right before the man opened fire. The man fled immediately after the shooting. Harold had been shot in the back and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released any information on a suspect or motive in the shooting. This case is still open.
