Stackhouse had recently become the proud owner of a 1986 burgundy Chevrolet Caprice complete with about $1,000 worth stereo equipment and gold rims. Ready to show it off, he stopped at his father Woodrow’s home before heading to his own home to meet up with friends.

Ward had made arrangements with a relative to care for her infant that evening. She dropped her child off with the relative in Enterprise and then headed to over Eula Lee’s apartment to meet up with the other women before going to Stackhouse’s home in Enterprise

After hanging out at Lee’s apartment for a little while, the four women headed over to Stackhouse’s home just a few miles away, where they were later joined by Amp.

According to Lee’s mother, Josephine Farley, Lee called her boyfriend and said she would be home soon. It is unclear whether Lee called from her apartment or from Stackhouse’s home.

Authorities say that the group of women had arrived at Stackhouse’s by at least 11:45 because Ward used Stackhouse’s phone to call her cousin Josephine Williams and check in on her baby. Williams said Ward indicated she planned to spend the night with McCoy and would be by the following morning to pick up her baby.

Once everyone arrives at Stackhouse’s apartment, they all pile into Stackhouse’s Caprice and make their way to the Hideaway Club. The group arrived, paid the cover and joined the crowd inside. According to witnesses, the group appeared to be having a good time, laughing, dancing, drinking, and cutting up.

Around 3:00 a.m., Larry “Mister” Edwards, security for the Hideaway Club, began ushering patrons out the door. He told media outlets that he saw a visibly drunk Stackhouse behind the wheel of the Caprice revving the engine and blasting music. Edwards encouraged Stackhouse to let someone else drive the car and claimed that one of the women traded places with Stackhouse. Authorities believe this may have been Ward, but it doesn’t appear the driver of the vehicle has ever been confirmed. According to witnesses, all six of the friends were in the Caprice when it left the Hideaway Club headed to an unknown destination. Authorities assumed the group would have traveled back to Stackhouse’s Enterprise home, which was about a 30-mile trip.

At some point after the group left the Hideaway Club things took a tragic turn and within three days all six were reported missing. Authorities began searching a 45-mile radius, including aerial searches, but found no signs of the Missing Six or that foul play was involved.

After 3 months and little to no information, authorities sought help from the popular TV Show, “America’s Most Wanted.”

Despite authorities having no evidence indicating foul play was involved, they convinced Gov. Don Seigelman to issue a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of hte person(s) responsible for the disappearance of the Missing Six if foul play was involved.

About four months after their disappearance, authorities located Stackhouse’s Caprice upside down and submerged in Pea Creek approximately 50 feet away from Ballard Bridge, just 8 miles away from Opp. The area had been searched twice previously, but the searches had come up empty. The area where the Caprice was discovered averaged about 20 feet deep, but an overly dry summer had led to significantly decreased water levels, putting it somewhere around 9-10 feet deep at the time of the discovery. Based on the damage to the car, investigators believed whoever was driving the car that night perhaps missed the curve just before Ballard Bridge, sending the car off an embankment and into the river, trapping all six friends inside. Divers made multiple trips in an attempt to recover any remains that were not still inside the car.

Four months after the Missing Six disappeared, Gov. Siegelman increased the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the disappearance of group to $20,000. Despite this increase, authorities continued to say foul play was not suspected.

After testing and analyzing the remains, forensic experts were only identify to match the remains to five of the friends. Experts said there was no trace of Amp in the Caprice. With this finding, authorities renewed their search efforts along the Pea River area, but maintained that there was nothing to indicate foul play was involved. Authorities also planned to reinterview witnesses who claimed Reynolds was with the group when they left Hideaway Club
