Overview of Jamie Fraley
Jamie Fraley disappeared from her apartment in Gastonia, North Carolina on April 8, 2008. She was last seen by her fiancé's father, Ricky Dale Simonds Sr., who was one of the last people to see her alive.
Fraley had called her mother and a friend, stating that she was ill and someone was going to pick her up and take her back to the hospital. Two days after her disappearance, her cell phone was found three miles from her home, but it had been handled by too many people to be valuable as evidence.
Fraley's fiancé was incarcerated at the time of her disappearance and is therefore not considered a suspect. Simonds, a person of interest in Fraley's case, was found dead in a car trunk in June 2008, after an ex-girlfriend had filed a restraining order against him.
In 2015, convicted murderer Jerry Douglas Case confessed to Fraley's murder, but he was incarcerated when she disappeared, so police do not believe his confession is credible. Fraley's case remains unsolved.
