Kathy Haskell, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, was last seen in her home on October 16, 2003. She informed her husband, Andy Young-run Wen, that she was leaving the house to unwind due to stress from their finances and her weight. Haskell never returned home, and Wen reported her missing the following day after finding her car abandoned on the beach south of Bob Hall Pier. Her burgundy 1996 Dodge Caravan was found locked, with her purse, medication, and keys still inside.

Despite an extensive search of the beach, no evidence regarding Haskell's whereabouts was found. One credit card was missing from her purse, but no charges were made on it. Wen filed for divorce from Haskell on May 6, 2003, but withdrew his filing ten days later. After her disappearance, he filed for divorce again and sought a restraining order to prevent Haskell from taking their son.

According to court documents, Wen believed that Haskell left him for another man and was hanging out with disreputable people, including drug addicts, prostitutes, and strippers. However, investigators deny having reached that conclusion and say there is no evidence that Haskell left town with anyone. There is also no evidence of suicide, although Haskell was undergoing depression treatment around the time of her disappearance.

Haskell's case remains unsolved. Her disappearance is considered suspicious because of the abandoned car, and the lack of evidence pointing to a voluntary disappearance.
