Overview of Lawrence Brown
Lawrence James Brown, aka 'Son,' was only 53 when he was murdered. He was born into a large family with six sisters and five brothers. Lawrence was a father to seven children, including his stepson, Gregory Hills, who passed away the same day and nearly the same time as Lawrence.
Family and friends described Lawrence as a nice guy with a big heart. He was "so much to so many, a father, a cook, a great friend, a handyman, and a leader," and he was loved by so many.
On Sunday, March 24, 2014, at about 8:30 pm, authorities were called to the 3500 block of Audubon Court in Gert Town about a report of a man down. There they found Lawrence's stepson, 19-year-old Gregory Hills, lying face down in the middle of the street. He had been shot once and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At about the same time, only a few blocks away, at the corner of Broadway Street and Washington Avenue, authorities came across yet another crime scene. There they found Lawrence Brown still in his red pickup truck, suffering from several gunshot wounds to his body. Investigators believe Lawrence drove only a short distance after being shot before he lost consciousness and crashed into a nearby business, where he was ultimately found.
Investigators are still looking for possible suspects and motives, and no arrests have been made. This case is still open.
