Overview of Mabel Tresner

Mable Tresner, a resident of Jensen Beach, Florida, went missing on August 16, 1993, from her mobile home located in the 100 block of northeast 15th Terrace, off Baker Road. Tresner, who lived alone at the time, was last seen on the day of her disappearance and has not been heard from since.

Tresner was a volunteer at the Jesus House of Hope thrift shop and was expected to be picked up by a friend on the morning of August 17. When her friend arrived, Tresner was nowhere to be found. Later that same day, her daughter went to her home and discovered that it was empty. Tresner's purse, car keys, clothes, jewelry, dentures and eyeglasses were inside the house, but there was no sign of Tresner.

The condition of the home was peculiar. Tresner's bed was made up and her sandals lay on the floor next to the bed, and her bathroom was also in a neat condition. Additionally, the front door was unlocked, which was unusual given Tresner's habit of keeping her home secured.

Despite an extensive search of the area, no trace of Tresner was found. However, witnesses reported seeing an elderly woman in a nightgown walking along U.S. 1 near the Roosevelt Bridge in Stuart, Florida at 1:00 a.m. on August 17. Despite these sightings, Tresner has never been located.

Tresner's family and friends find it unlikely that she left home voluntarily as she was known to be very particular about her appearance and would never have left without putting on her shoes, dentures, and glasses. While authorities initially believed that Tresner may have had a medical problem that caused her to become confused and wander away from home, foul play is now suspected in her disappearance. The case remains unsolved, and Tresner's whereabouts remain unknown.
