Overview of Mary Levitz
Mary Levitz, formerly known as Jacqueline Levitz, was last seen by a store clerk in Vicksburg, Mississippi on November 18, 1995. She had purchased wallpaper for her new house before leaving the store and disappearing without a trace. Her disappearance was discovered two days later when a relative went to her home to check on her.
Upon arrival, the relative found Jacqueline's front door open and evidence of a violent struggle inside the home. Blood stains, later confirmed to be Jacqueline's type, covered her bedroom carpet and mattress, and signs of a struggle were scattered throughout the room. Despite several valuable items being left untouched, including fur coats and diamond earrings, Jacqueline's purse and makeup bag were missing, and the cream-colored Jaguar parked in her driveway was left untouched.
Jacqueline, who had been married three times, inherited her last husband's, Ralph Levitz, fortune after his death in March of 1995. Her worth was estimated to be between five and fifteen million dollars. Prior to her disappearance, she had moved from Palm Beach, Florida, to Vicksburg, where her home was undergoing extensive renovations.
The police and Jacqueline's loved ones suspect foul play in her disappearance, with her lawyer speculating that she may have been the victim of a botched kidnapping. Authorities believe that her body may have been disposed of in the Mississippi River, which runs near her home.
There has been speculation that Jacqueline's disappearance may be related to the 1998 disappearance of Irene Silverman, a wealthy elderly woman from Manhattan. Kenneth Kimes Jr. and his mother, Sante Kimes, were convicted of Silverman's murder in 2000, but her body was never found. The Kimeses are considered possible suspects in Jacqueline's case due to the similarities between the two disappearances, but they have never been charged in connection to her abduction. Sante Kimes passed away in prison in 2014, while Kenneth remains incarcerated.
Jacqueline was born in Louisiana and was declared dead in 2000. Despite this, her presumed murderer(s) have yet to be caught.
