Overview of Morgan Martin

Morgan Martin, a resident of Opp, Alabama, went missing on June 17, 2012, and has not been seen since. Morgan was pregnant at the time of her disappearance and left behind all her belongings, including her purse, except for her phone. The only sighting of Morgan on the day she vanished was a witness who saw a white car parked in her driveway, but Morgan did not appear to approach the vehicle.

Morgan's disappearance raised red flags due to her pregnancy and the fact that it was completely out of character for her to leave without warning. She was known to call her mother several times a day and was an active user of social media, which all stopped after her disappearance. Morgan was excited about her pregnancy and upcoming motherhood, and her family had accepted the situation.

In June 2016, four years after Morgan's disappearance, a man named William Chase Flowers was indicted for first-degree murder in her case. Flowers was already in custody on unrelated charges of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer at the time of the indictment. Investigators stated that Flowers did not want Morgan to have the baby because he was already supporting three children and that she threatened to report him for statutory rape unless he admitted paternity and paid child support for her daughter.

Flowers denied that he was the father of Morgan's unborn baby or that they had ever had sex. He claimed that their online messages discussing her pregnancy were only "playing make believe." However, investigators stated that Flowers's alibi for the night of Morgan's disappearance had numerous inconsistencies.

In the spring of 2022, Flowers reached a plea agreement with the prosecution and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Morgan's death. As per the agreement, if he led police to Morgan's body, he would be sentenced to 25 years in prison, but if he did not, he would get 40 years in prison.

Flowers stated that Morgan's remains were buried in a four-foot-deep grave in Pike County, Alabama, approximately 450 miles from where she disappeared. Authorities conducted an extensive search with a cadaver dog and an excavator but found nothing, even after Flowers was brought to the site to direct them. Flowers was sentenced to 40 years in prison for Morgan's murder, but her body has never been found. However, foul play is suspected due to the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
