Overview of Nolan Alofipo
Nolan's sister Thelma said, choking on tears, "He has a daughter. He loved his daughter. My brother was the nicest person." Nolan "Nemo" Gemo Alofipo, a father of 2, was gunned down in broad daylight in the Irish Channel neighborhood in New Orleans. He and his family lived in this area until they all recently moved downtown.
Thelma saw her brother earlier that day on 02/21/2013 and mentioned that he was planning on going to the Irish Channel to visit friends. That Thursday seemed like a great day to be outside since it was partly sunny with highs in the upper 70s.
Shortly after 2:30 pm, neighbors heard multiple gunshots and contacted the police. The gunfire was so loud that it set off a house alarm at a home close to the crime scene. Another neighbor stated that it was so loud it woke him up from a nap, and he quickly got up to see what was happening. By the time he made it outside, the police were pulling up in his driveway. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found Nolan lying in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect Nolan was standing near a truck when shots rang out. He made it halfway down the block when he collapsed in the middle of the street. Approximately 8 months later, authorities released an image from an area surveillance camera in the hopes of identifying and locating the 4 men in the picture. Additional surveillance videos show 4 men exiting and entering a white vehicle. Detectives advised that these 4 individuals are not considered suspects in the case; however, they would like to speak to them. Authorities do not have a motive or suspects at this time, but they hope someone will come forward.
