Overview of Randall Childs
Randall Childs is a father of four, has 11 siblings and was aged 50 when he went missing on June 7, 2011.
He was employed as a cook at Pasquale’s restaurant in Royal Oak but lost his job shortly before he went missing; he also acted as a neighborhood handyman. Childs attended Northern High School, where he was part of the baseball team and a member of the choir; he loved to sing and write poetry. He went missing with his girlfriend of one year, Karen Young. Randall has a close family who are extremely worried and desperate for answers and say he would never have left without contact for this long.
“Everywhere I go I’m looking for my brother,” Child’s sister Sharon Murray said in 2019. “It is very difficult to go on living a normal life when a part of you is missing. You go on and you do the best you can, but a piece of our puzzle is missing. A lot of people don’t even want to say Randall’s name because it’s too hurtful to say his name but he is my brother and he is real and we need to find him. So we are begging and pleading with you to come forth if you know anything.”
The day leading up to his disappearance.
Unfortunately, it is not clear what happened on the day of the disappearance but in the lead up to them going missing, Randall and his girlfriend, Karen Young, were in his apartment with his roommate and other friends. Just before 11.30 pm, they got into an argument and Karen called her family to pick her up. As it was dark outside and the apartment was on the 6th floor, Randall walked Karen out to the parking lot to ensure she met her ride safely. This is the last time both Randall and Karen were seen. They left all their belongings behind including toiletries and Karen’s purse.
There have been no leads, no sightings and as the couple did not own a vehicle, no one knows how they would have left the area on their own.
There is no indication that the pair had planned to leave, and their families insist that they wouldn’t have been out of contact for this long. Randall left his toiletries behind and Karen left her purse and all her belongings behind. Randall was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and white gym shoes.
Where the case stands today.
Since their disappearance, Randall’s family have submitted DNA to be matched against unidentified remains and have regularly visited hospitals and morgues doing everything they can to find Randall. They have posted fliers and frantically searched the area but no firm tips have come forward.
