Overview of Richard Forsyth

Richard Neil Forsyth disappeared on October 18, 1979, in Waterloo, Iowa. There is speculation that his disappearance may be connected to that of Steven Kirchhoff, a known drug dealer who vanished from the same area on January 24, 1978.

Kirchhoff was believed to have been carrying $8,000 at the time of his disappearance, and it is possible that he was robbed and killed. Forsyth was seen carrying something wrapped in a rug the day after Kirchhoff's disappearance and bought a 1972 Cadillac for $2,000 in $100 bills, with a bruised and bloody face. He left town and traveled to Manhattan, Kansas, then to his uncle's home in Tucson, Arizona. By the time authorities tracked him down, he was gone. The Cadillac he bought was later found in Grand Forks, North Dakota and was bloodstained, but the stains could not be matched to Kirchhoff's blood. A man calling himself David Gates left the car in storage and another man named Richard Steves rented a room but didn't stay.

Kirchhoff's parents believe that Forsyth and "Richard Steves" may have been the same person, but there is no conclusive evidence. Both men's cases remain unsolved.
