Overview of Shane Anthony Walker
Shane Anthony Walker was born on December 7, 1987, in New York, NY. He is an African-American baby boy — just 18 months old when he disappeared. Shane was a happy, if quiet baby, but he laughed when his mom, Rosa Glover, tickled him. He loved teddy bears and monkeys. On a trip to Disneyland before his disappearance, Rosa recalls how much he loved the rides but was afraid of Mickey Mouse. She had to carry him all over the theme park.
It was a very warm evening on August 10, 1989, and Rosa Glover, took her son, Shane to a playground at the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers in Harlem. The two sat together on a bench, Rosa enjoying ice cream, when two young children asked if Shane could play with them. Rosa hesitated thinking it was odd that they wanted to play with a baby but then agreed. While Shane played with the other children, an unknown man sat beside her and struck up a conversation with Rosa about the recent child abductions in the area. The unknown man also shows Rosa the scars he had received in fights. Rosa realized she can’t see Shane anymore and soon notices that Shane is not at the park. She frantically searches the playground as well as nearby parks extensively before calling the police to report Shane as missing at 6:30 pm.
Police speak to both children that were seen playing with Shane. The children said they left Shane at the other park and do not know where he is. They also speak to the man that was talking to Rosa, who is unable to provide any information. There is no evidence to implicate him in the disappearance. Police conduct a massive search across the parks, the apartment towers, and the surrounding neighborhood, but to no avail. There were no clues or evidence leading to Shane.
Shane Walker's disappearance is often connected to the disappearance of Christopher Dansby, whose disappearance is irrefutably similar to Shane's, as well as to Andre Bryant, another toddler who was abducted in Brooklyn, New York in 1989.
Rosa Glover, and Shane’s father, still live in the same neighborhood and believe Shane is still alive. He would be 32-years-old. They have left their old apartment and steer clear of the playground where he was last seen.
Shane Walker stood about 3' tall and weighed 23lbs when he disappeared. Shane has black hair, which he was wearing braided at the time of his disappearance. Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to Shane or Christopher to call Crime Stoppers at 1800-577-TIPS for an up to $2,500 reward.
