Taras disappeared from her Palmyra apartment on June 6, 2000. Three days later, police found her car in Philadelphia; with the keys in the ignition. Authorities said Antone Wilson had been Taras' alcohol counselor through a Drug and Alcohol treatment center in Harrisburg/Lebanon. Through a 3rd party, Taras had reported he had sex with her at his residence resulting in his suspension from his employment.
