Overview of Terrell Bonds
Terrell Bonds was one of 10 children who grew up in the New Orleans Uptown area. He was described as a sweet and energetic kid who loved football and loved to be around his immediate family.
On Sunday, 01/29/2017, at about 1:30 pm, first responders found Terrell lying face down with a gunshot wound in the 1900 block of 7th Street. He was still alive, so they rushed him to the University Medical Center in hopes of saving his life. Meanwhile, Erica Alphonse, Terrell's sister, received a devastating phone call from a relative and immediately headed toward the hospital. As she made her way, she remembered repeating, "Lord, let me get there before he closes his eyes." Once at the hospital, the doctors told the family that Terrell showed no signs of brain activity. It was only a matter of time before his heart would stop beating. Erica said she leaned close to her brother's ear and told him she loved him and was sorry she couldn't protect him.
Two days later, on 01/31/2017, Terrell's heart stopped beating. He was only 25 years old.
Investigators have not released information about a suspect or motive, and no arrests have been made. This case is still open.
